About

Best Kept Secrets of the LowCountry - An Eclectic mix of unique travel ideas from a local prospective. This site will feature my personal recommendations for Festivals and Monthly Calendar of Events that I suggest for you so you can get a true flavor of the LowCountry lifestyle.  I will also include local real estate for sale and vacation rental properties and recipes that are a true sample of Southern culture.

The "LowCountry" is the region  south of Beaufort, South Carolina down to Savannah, Georgia. When you see the term “LowCountry cuisine” it simply means food that is made by locals and prepared with rice, seafood and fresh veggies.

I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Coastal region that inspires me.  I will also include my own photography to showcase some of the beauty and serenity that surrounds me.

Some of my favorite LowCountry  pleasures:
- Oyster Roast with the locals on the breathtaking view of the May River, which was actually featured in Southern Living Magazine for one of the "Best Sunsets" in the SE Coast. This festival usually features a Live Band and a nice Bon Fire.
- Attending our Wine Tasting extravaganza that features wine from around the region.
- Exploring Home & Garden tours that are normally bypassed in Historic Savannah and Isle of Hope Tour of Home.  Beaufort, Bluffton & Hilton Head also have different homes that are showcased throughout the season that are located in private gated communities that you normally would not know exist unless you were a local.  You can also see some of the spectacular Antebellum Homes that were featured in several movies, The Prince of Tides, The Great Santini, Forest Gump, The Big Chill to name a few.

My blog is also featured on a travel blog which is http://www.tootntownsusa.com listed under "great travel blogs".
